Comprehensive on-site evaluation follows JCI accreditation. A survey team that has been approved and qualified to carry out the assessment on behalf of JCI visits the work site. They decide whether the facility in question complies with JCI requirements. With the exception of clinical laboratories, which require renewal every two years, accreditation is effective once awarded for a period of three years.
