Dr. Vivek Vij is the leading liver transplant surgeon who is credited with establishing living donor liver transplantation and standardizing safety standards to achieve a 100% donor safety record since the initiation of this procedure in the country. His publications on Laparoscopic Hepatectomy of Donors in ‘Liver Transplant’ made him the first surgeon from Greater India to do so. He established a very successful liver transplant program at Fortis Hospital Noida and later expanded it to Mohali. Dr. Vij is an innovator in the field of liver transplantation, hepatology and biliary tract surgery. He, along with his colleagues, has completed more than 2500 liver transplants, most of which were conducted at Fortis Hospital Noida, with an impressive success rate of 95% in patients and 100% in donors.

He holds the lowest biliary tract complication rate (5%) in living donor liver transplantation and his expertise is recognized not only in India but also in many other Asian countries including Mongolia, Pakistan, Iraq, OAC, South Asian and African countries. Dr. Vij has published his research and findings in many national and international publications.
